The People Have Spoken

This entry is entirely devoted to the wonderful feedback I have received from those who read my Blog diary, since I began keeping it last February. I have not used any last names. If I got your city wrong, please correct me. It's just nice for me to know where you're from in case I'm on tour in your part of the world in the future.

There are 2 sets of quotes in this entry:
1) KR BLOG QUOTES
2) KR SOLO CD QUOTES

If this inspires anyone new to check out my CDs, you can always go to my website:
www.kathrynrose.net
and sample some of the music there. If you like what you hear, you can easily place an order.

Hopefully I'll have to post a Round 2 of quotes from new/shy KR Blog visitors in the near future!

Keeping this Blog and hearing from you has been an important part of this tour for me. I try to write you all back at least once. I hope you understand if my correspondence slows down after that. There are many Sarah fans out there and only one of me, and oh yeah, I'm supposed to be working! Thank you everyone so far for welcoming me to Sarah's band and for taking the time to get to know me and my own music.

xo KR

“Hey Kathryn, I've been enjoying your blogs. So funny and its great to hear that being on the road hasn't made you lose your sense of humor.”
-Chelsey

“In some weird voyeuristic way, I love reading your entries in your Blog. It is so neat to read what is going on in your life. The other night after dinner we read two separate entries. It was fun. My parents were over for breakfast on Saturday, now my mom is hooked!”
-Christopher (Sacramento)

“Hi Kathryn!!! I love reading your posts!!! I always get a good laugh because your sense of humor cracks me up!! Just wanted to say "Hi" and that after reading your last post I figured I should let you know there are a lot of us out here that love reading what you have to say and never take you seriously LOL. Oh yeah, almost forgot: Hey-Ho! ...What gives! / KR’s Blog won’t harm your kids!"
-Kimberly (Sacramento).

“Hi there. I've been reading your tour blog for some time now, and I think it's terrific. The sorts of stories you tell are exactly the kind of thing I love to hear about, and you tell them with some considerable flair, I might add.”
-Steve (River Falls, WI)

“Hey Kathryn! I'm a 16 year old fan from Massachusetts. I've been reading your blog for a while now and I really enjoy it. I don't see why anyone should take offence to it. So don't be bummed out!”
-Connie

“I find your blogs to be quite humorous. In fact, sometimes they make me laugh out loud.”
-Anonymous

“I love your blog. I've been following it ever since the Merriweather show on August 11. I think it's hysterical and I truly enjoy reading it. You can't please everyone, and if they don't understand your wit or sense of humor, tooooo baaaaad. Keep it up...”
-Anonymous Baltimore fan

“Kathryn, I read your blog from time to time and usually enjoy it. I like the wit and observations.”
-David (Philadelphia)

“Your blog entries are hysterical. It makes me feel like I've suddenly been transported from my somewhat predictable life into something akin to Keanu hanging on to the underbelly of the bus on Speed. I know I'm not really supposed to be there, but I'm not planning on leaving (except to get a better seat).”
-Jennifer (Houston)

“Hi! I just read your latest blog. I wanted to email you after the first month of reading, but didn't think you would actually read it. Well in hopes that you do, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your blogs. I find myself giggling as I read them. You have a great way of showing us your sense of humor in them.”
-Lindsey (Edwardsville, Illinois)

“Was reading your blog today, and I just had to send you a quick email. You must know that there are probably a lot of people who are reading that don't comment at all, and who completely enjoy your sense of humor (like me).”
-Anya (New York)

“Dear Kathryn Rose, I've been reading through your Blog and I find it very enjoyable. I've always been fascinated about the music industry and what you do when you're not on stage. I found your latest posting very funny. Did they manage to get the bathroom door unlocked (and perhaps provide a key to the driver) to prevent that from happening again?”
-Jason (Portland)

“Thank you again for your fun and interesting Blog. I read it weekly. So please don't stop. It's like my own little periodical. I had to let you know how many times I laughed out loud! You are a brilliant story teller. I loved your re-enactment of your meeting Gene Simmons. He sounds like a bit of a perv!”
-Toni (Seattle)

“I enjoy reading through your blogs.”
-Kelly (Auckland, New Zealand)

“I enjoy reading your Blog, and it sounds like you all get on so well and have an awesome time together. I had a giggle at your whole Kiss experience and the bra strap, and Ash sounds like a hoot!! Glad there are people to make you laugh on the road, as you explained it was tough being away from hubby for so long. I have often wondered how musicians handle being away from their pillow for extended periods at a time.”
-Katie (Tasmania, Australia)

“I just wanted to ‘Thank you’ for your daily blog that I have stumbled upon [via] the Sarah McLachlan fan site. It's nice to see how others live their lives, makes me remember that we all are human.”
-Janetta (Houston)

“Please keep your blog going, because apparently Sarah’s Tour Journal on her fanclub website won't be used?? Thanks for the updates of the tour here in Australia and New Zealand.”
-Susanne (Holland)

“Well, I've managed to exhaust what I can listen to on your website (have had ‘Something I Can Use’ on repeat here for a while. I've just ordered ‘My Little Flame.’” (Next email): “Wanted to say that I'm enjoying your CD! When exactly is the next one out?”
-Anya (New York)

“I sampled your music [on your website]. IT ROCKS!!! You have a beautiful voice! ”
-Toni (Seattle)

“I have your CD ‘My Little Flame’, you signed it for me in Melbourne (Thanks!!!!). I really like [the song] ‘Life's Luxurious’, [and] ‘Wichita Lineman’. You have a great voice and I am glad we get to hear it now. Hope to catch you one day doing your solo stuff too! I like the different sound your music has and your lyrics are awesome as well. I will get my hands on the new album you are releasing [and] your 1st album! I am promoting you on my blog as well. Bring some of those CDs to London and Amsterdam in November and I will get people to buy them!!!

Hey Kathryn,
I sent you an e-mail a few months back after your "dream analysis" entry, but I just wanted to say (what most the comments above have said) your blog is fantastic. It's great to hear stories about life on the road and your sense of humor is classic.

I live in Columbia, MO and just saw you guys in St. Louis - fab show by the way. I waved at you and you waved back, but you probably get that a lot, lol. Anyway, if you could pass on a little note to everyone (yourself, Sarah, the band, crew, etc) that the Afterglow tour is suberb. I saw you guys twice this year and everything was great - the set up, the execution. It is very clear that the tour is full of immensely talented and hard working people.

Glad to hear you get to see your hubby again soon! Enjoy your time off from the tour for awhile.

Thanks again for the blog, it's great.

Cheers
Amanda :-) (silenceelsewhere@hotmail.com)

KR-
I was at the Milwaukee concert and I just wanted to say the show was absolutely amazing. I praise you, and please give my thanks to Sarah and the rest of the band (and Butterfly Boucher and her band, brilliant!). It was such a great escape from reality. You guys are immensely talented and you are so lucky you get to do what you do every night. It may just be a job for you, and I'm sure you guys hear this all the time, but I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you sharing your talent. Fucking brilliant!
-anon. (Amy from Milwaukee)
p.s. - did you get the chance to go to any of the bars in Milwaukee? if u find the time, an email would be awesome - mayhunt@yahoo.com

Kathryn,

Thank you so much for your blog. I really enjoy reading it, and I am quite jealous of how much you get to interact with Sarah. But I know why she has selected you to be her BU, since you are very talented. I went to the Philly concert, and had great fanclub seats, and got to sit nice and close (and no, I didnt view the concert through a digital camara!!). I think you shined on Answer, Sweet Surrender, etc.

Now..I do have a favor. I was at the Good Morning Appearance you guys had, and I was the tall guy that made several signs for Sarah. The one was "Sarah...can this fan get his picture taken with you?" (which she was so cool, and came right over to me!!! I was shaking). And the other sign was "Sarah, we will provide the cake, can you bring the 'Ice Cream'" with our wedding date of October 16, 2004. We will be cutting the wedding cake to Ice Cream. My favor is...at that appearance, we gave Sarah (via her security) a wedding invitation to our wedding. I know she wouldnt come, but we wanted a response from her! (how dumb right?). Do you think you can find out if she received it...or was it thrown out? There was a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope inside...so it would just need an autograph or something, then thrown back in the mail.

Thank you so much. My email is smt150@hotmail.com. I would love to hear from you (if you have a spare moment, or are bored in your hotel room!).

Scott

Please keep your diary going for the UK and European tour - it's very interesting to see what you and the rest of the band do with your spare time (if any) on the road. I'll be especially interested to see what you and the band make of the UK and it's very inconsistent quality of hotels. I get the impression that you try and see as much as you can when you do get any spare time. Birmingham is a city I know quite well (and I believe was the city where Sarah's husband, Ash, was born)and I notice that the band has a day off following the concert there. If you do get some spare time on your day off I would recommend a visit to some of the following: Cadbury's World, Bournville ( if you like chocolate this is the place for you - a history of chocolate at the chocolate factory and lots of samples - I don't know about Canadian chocolate but British chocolate is much better than the stuff you get in the USA); Moseley Bog (doesn't sound very exciting but if you like Lord of the Rings this is an essential visit as it is where JRR Tolkien grew up and is supposed to be the inspiration for Middle Earth); a canal boat ride which sets off at Brindley Place close to the concert hall where you are playing (Birmingham is supposed to have more canals than Venice although the setting is probably not quite as romantic !). If you are staying at the Hyatt Hotel or Malmaisons Hotel in the city centre (if Lionel Richie and his band haven't already taken all of the best hotel rooms that weekend) you will be very close to a large choice of restaurants, cafes and bars (and lap dancing clubs!) in the Broad Street and Mail Box area.
I am missing Sarah's Birmingham concert due to going with my family to see the new Disney Mary Poppin's musical that night. However, I am going to the concerts at Manchester, Nottingham and Bristol.
Have a great time in the UK. The concerts here have been sold out for some time and anybody without a ticket who wants to see Sarah and her band are paying large premiums on sites such as e-bay.
Sorry this message is so long.
Have a great tour !
