A Good Week For Cherry Blossoms

In Vancouver, rehearsing for the start of the tour in Australia and New Zealand. It was a very good week for Cherry Blossoms here.

Started working on some of the ‘classics’ a few days ago, Building A Mystery, Sweet Surrender... almost like being at home washing the dishes in 1994, except, would you look at that, there’s Sarah McLachlan and the spatula just turned into a real microphone.

My manager RJ heard my new album for the first time last week and... da-da-da! He’s pleased. So are Thomas and I, but until now we kept it strictly under wraps. It feels good to reveal it to a good response, instead of, I don’t know, uncomfortable silence? There is one song called ‘Yellowknife’ that made RJ turn to us and say, ‘what drugs were you guys on?’ Just when I considering detox he emailed me the next day to say it was becoming one his favourites. That was close. A vote is in to cut the album down to 10 songs from 12. I am practicing my new technique of acceptance, as opposed to a well worn patented move of mine I like to call, ‘the stranglehold.’ Let you know how it works out.

Tomorrow morning we get to try on clothes before rehearsal. Sarah’s stylist is coming in with a pile of shopping for the upcoming tour. Let's hope their options for me don't know 'the stranglehold'.

Lift and Separate,
